Whitebait lunch

We had lunch out as it was my friend's last day at work :-(
I had a whitebait fritter sammie. Oh my gosh was it good or what?!? Washed down with apple cider... Love the Tasting Room. So reliably good.
The night before we went out out for pizza and cocktails. It was a nice way to finish off a full day of wine and cheese classes.
I have another 4 hours of wine training today before work so time to hit the hay. Need a full 5 hours sleep so I can soak up all that info. I think you'd need several lifetimes to learn all there is to know about wine!

Finished Gwen Stacy

This hat has been absolute bliss to knit. The malabrigo yarn is to die for.
I actually finished it on Saturday following the pattern exactly, but it was quite short. I happily ripped it back to before the decreases and kept on knitting. The bobbles, cables and yarn overs were easy to follow but provided enough interest to keep my mind occupied.
Now I just have to block it and get it to my friend/colleague who's sadly leaving us this week. Hopefully she'll send pictures of the hat in action from London.
Knitted in just under 1 skein of malabrigo playa 10 ply. Love this yarn so so much.

Pebble

Knitted in skeinz vintage dk. Accidentally did a couple of extra buttonholes so hoping the parents of the wee recipient don't find it too annoying...
Am in complete love with this mustard colourway.

Counting down to Handmade 2013

I've had my two days of leave booked since the beginning of the year and have impatiently been checking the website every week to see when the programme would be out and tickets on sale. Finally they've posted some dates!

The programme is out on March 26th.
VIP tickets can be bought from March 27th.

Gaaaah! Cannot wait! But really how I am supposed to look through the programme, work out what classes I can do that don't clash, how many I need to do etc etc in only 24 hours? Picking the classes is one of the funnest parts. I wish they'd let me elongate that process just a little, without fear of missing out on tickets.

Last year I found doing the entire weekend package of 8 classes a little overwhelming. Especially with only 15 minute breaks between them to rush from one place to another, all the while carting around freshly made cheeses, rolling pins, knitting and a bag of sewing supplies. This year I think 4 classes would be a nice amount - leaving plenty of time to hang out in the knit lounge.

I'm going to do the same as last year and book a hotel in the city for the night. It seems a bit luxurious seeing as I live only a 30 minute walk or 10 minute bike ride from the CBD, but it's nice to give an entire weekend over to craft and relaxation.

13 days...

Sneak peek into my yarn stash

Grouped by weight. Yes,  I possibly have a problem but a quick search of the hashtag #yarnstash reveals that there are many people out there with a bigger problem than me!

Movies I watched this week...

January/February knitting snapshot

Nothing difficult. Nothing fancy. Lots of stocking stitch. Too much garter for my liking. Token cables. Mindless i-cords. Snug babies and happy tea pots :-)
