Finished projects

This week I finally finished the baby outfit I started to work on in late May. It feels good to have it done and sent off. Now I can knit for myself guiltlessly. I love the look of the booties but must convert them to the round because sewing up, quite frankly sucks!

I also whipped up a hat for my friend in a couple of days. Inspired by the life aquatic, it's made from the most gorgeous scarlet yarn. I had been promising a hat for a while and this jumped from 12th in the queue to 1st because I feel so deeply in love with the yarn. I needed to knit it then and there. I now have two spare balls to use as I massively overestimated how much I'd need. Ideas?

Leftover sock yarn hat

What do you do with the rest of your skein of yarn when you're done knitting yourself some socks???
Make something for a little person of course.
Basic hat with knot in cascade
sport weight. Made in size one (though my gauge is quite loose) for this beautiful,  petite 20 month old.

It fits perfectly and I love the colour.

Knitting!

It's not just this blog that's been suffering from neglect, but my knitting too, these past couple of weeks. I've been so busy working, and then sleeping, I've been forgetting to make time for knitting! This photo makes me remember why I need to finish my current baby knitting project - it just looks so darn cute on the recipients!

Also, we had our second lights up knitting screening last week. I'm just finalising the details on the next one. And making sure I can sit and knit through it - after all, that's why I started it up anyway :-)

A great weekend. ..

Im quite exhausted after the weekend just gone.  It was Handmade weekend. I only took 3 classes this year as I had to work each night.
I feel I can now to basic crochet (or at least hold the needle right) after a 2 hour lesson. I'm really excited about that as it's something I've been meaning to learn for quite some time.
I sat and knitted in the knit lounge for a bit which is always inspiring.  I love to see what others are making.
I swapped out of my sewing class and went to a gardening lecture on growing cut flowers instead. It was really interesting - definitely gave me some ideas that I can try in the small space I have to work with.
Today I had the day off so after a sleep in, I did nothing but relax. I managed to read 50 paged of the 1250 page Les Miserables (will I ever finish?!). I also finished my ultra slouchy hat. It's so toasty warm - made from hand spun manos del uruguay yarn. I may have just finished 1 baby bootie in vintage dk too.
I meant to spend time in the kitchen but it didn't really happen. I made a delicious quinoa risotto for dinner though. I just love quinoa! Reminds me of being back in Peru.
Right,  better sleep. Have to be at work from 11am until about midnight tomorrow.  Joy! I will be dressed in my 1920s finest for half of it though so should be fun. Better remember to take my heels.

Lights up Knitting and some finished projects

Realised I hadn't posted in ages - have been in a bubble of work, sleep and knitting lately.

Because work often intrudes on my knitting time and stops me ever going to knit nights, I decided to set up an event that would bring knitters and knitting into work.

Last week we ran our first ever lights up knitting movie session and it was a 'sold out' success. Yay! Cannot wait until the next one in June. Holland Road Yarn Company provided the goody bags for us and gee did they have some awesome treats inside including a ball of zealana cashmerino. Yarn deliciousness!!!

My flatmate also got back from her holiday in England with some gorgeous yarn for me and a, drum roll, FULL SET OF INTERCHANGEABLE KNIT PRO NEEDLES. Squee!

Because it's late I'll leave it with that for now and a couple of pictures of one gorgeous bebe wearing her gorgeous zealana puerperium cardigan and her equally gorgeous skeinz vintage dk pebble vest. This is why I love baby knits...

Movies I watched in the last month...

Loved all of these films actually. Have snuck the Perks of Being a Wallflower trailer in again as I've now seen it 4 times total at the cinema!!!!
